English homework - Wednesday 30th

A point of view can mean two things, one of them is where a story is told from, where you see it from as a reader.
For example, a story can be told from the main characters point of view, which means that you see the story through his or her eyes.
A different point of view could be from a storytellers eyes. You get the impression that the story is told by a third person, someone standing next to the characters.
"The way up to heaven" is told from a third persons point of view.

The other meaning is how certain things and actions are described, which can make you agree or disagree because of the point of view you get.
For example, media can make us agree with their opinion regarding something that has just happened by telling us about it from one specific point of view.

Concord is the change of a verb depending on the person it relates too.

For example: "She looks out on the rainy cloud"
"I look out on the rainy cloud"

There is a "s" added to the verb when it's telling what he, she or it is doing.

The difference between an adjective and an adverb is that an adjectiv describes a noun, whilst an adverb modifies any part of our language.

Examples:
"The house is pink" - pink says something about how the house looks. (adjectiv)
"He is driving home" - home says something about where he is deiving, but it is not saying something more about a noun, as the adjectiv does. (adverb)

Characterisiation - Mr Watson
Mr Watson is the husband in the story "The way up to heaven".
He is an old man, and is lucky enough to have a very faithfull and caring wife. Despite this, he treats her badly. He barely talks to her, and is making every decision for her, not allowing her to make up her own mind. He also is aware of the fact that she gets very stressed when she is about to travel, and purposely is a couple of minutes late. It it almost as if he gets pleasure from seeing her stressed.
At the end of the story, Mrs Watson "breakes free" from her husband, and I think it serves Mr Watson right to get stuck in the elevator.
